Upload your existing singleplayer world to your Terraria server by transferring your world file and updating the world name in Server Options.
Find Your World Files
On Windows, your Terraria world files are stored at:
Documents/My Games/Terraria/Worlds/You’ll see two files for each world - a .wld file and a .twld file. For a vanilla Terraria server, you only need the .wld file.
Upload Your World File
Choose whichever upload method you prefer - both work the same way.
Via the File Manager
- Log in to the WinterNode Game Control Panel and select your Terraria server.
- Click File Manager in the left sidebar.
- Navigate to
saves/Worlds/. - Click Upload and select your
.wldfile (and.twldif using tModLoader). - Wait for the upload to finish before moving on.
Via SFTP
- Connect to your server using your preferred SFTP client (such as FileZilla or WinSCP). Your SFTP credentials are available under System > SFTP Details in the Game Control Panel. We have a guide covering how to use SFTP.
- Navigate to
saves/Worlds/ - Transfer your
.wldfile (and.twldif using tModLoader) into that directory. - Wait for the transfer to complete before moving on.
Set the World Name in Server Options
Once your file is uploaded:
- Go to Server Options in the Game Panel.
- Find the World Name field.
- Enter the name of your world file without the file extension. For example, if your file is
MyWorld.wld, enterMyWorld. - Click Save.
Start Your Server
Start your server from the Game Panel. Once it finishes loading, your singleplayer world should be running as your server world.
If the server starts but loads a different or newly generated world, go back and verify that the World Name in Server Options matches your filename exactly - including capitalization.
