These are the admin commands built into Valheim. They work on a dedicated server with no mods, as long as you are on the server’s admin list. Commands that need devcommands, such as fly, spawn, and sleep, are covered in How to Enable Cheats on Your Valheim Server instead.

Before You Start

Admin Commands

Press F5 to open the console and type the command without a leading slash, for example kick PlayerName. You can also run them from chat, but there you need the slash: /kick PlayerName.

Kick

kick <Character Name|Player ID>
Kicks a player who is currently online off the server, using either their character name or their Valheim Player ID.

Ban

ban <Character Name|Player ID>
Bans a player from joining the server. You can also ban by editing the banned list manually.

  • Player ID: bans the account, whatever character they play.
  • Character name of a player who is online: Valheim looks up that player and stores their account ID, so this is also an account ban.
  • Character name of a player who is offline: the name itself is stored. This only blocks characters with that exact name, so the player can get around it by making a new character. Use their Valheim Player ID instead.

Unban

unban <Player ID|Character Name>
Removes an entry from the banned list. You can also remove the entry from the banned list manually.

Banned

banned
Prints the banned list, then the permitted list (the whitelist). Each entry is shown exactly as stored, either a character name or a player ID.

Save

save
Forces an immediate world save.

Set World Modifier

setworldmodifier <modifier> <value>
Changes a single world modifier on the running world, for example setworldmodifier raids none. See World Modifiers for the full list of modifiers and values.

Set World Preset

setworldpreset <preset>
Applies a world preset: Normal, Casual, Easy, Hard, Hardcore, Immersive, or Hammer. A preset overwrites every modifier on the world, so re-apply any individual modifiers you want to keep afterward.
