This reference explains every Server Option available on your WinterNode DayZ server, grouped by category. All options are found in the Game Panel under Configuration → Server Options.
Connection and Access
Server Name: The name that appears for your server in the in-game server browser.
Max Players: The maximum number of players who can be connected to the server at once.
Server Password: The password players must enter to join. Leave this blank to allow anyone to connect without a password.
Admin Password: The password used to log in as an admin on the server through the in-game admin login.
Steam Query Port: The UDP port used for the Steam server browser. This is view-only. It controls whether your server shows up in the client’s server list and can’t be changed after the server is created.
RCON Port: The port third-party tools like Battlemetrics use to manage your server remotely. This is view-only and is set to your game port plus 3 by default.
RCON Password: The password used to authenticate remote management tools connecting over RCON.
Gameplay and World Settings
Verify Signatures: When on, every connecting client must run the exact same mod versions as the server, or they’ll be kicked. Turn this off only if you understand the risk of allowing mismatched mod files.
Enforce Game Version: When on, only clients running the same DayZ game version as the server can connect.
Disable Third Person: When on, players can only use first-person view on your server.
Disable Crosshair: When on, the crosshair is hidden for all players.
Disable Personal Light: When on, the faint light that normally appears above each player at night is removed.
Darker Nights: When on, nighttime is darker and more realistic, making a light source more important for players.
Persistent Time: When on, the server saves its in-game time on shutdown and resumes from that time on the next start, instead of resetting.
Time Multiplier: Speeds up or slows down in-game time. For example, a value of 12 compresses a full 24-hour day into 2 real hours. Accepts values from 0 to 24.
Night Multiplier: An additional speed multiplier applied on top of Time Multiplier, but only during nighttime. Accepts values from 0.1 to 64. A higher value makes nights pass faster relative to days.
Disable VoN: When on, in-game voice chat (Voice over Network) is disabled server-wide.
VoN Quality: The audio quality of in-game voice chat, from 0 to 30. Higher values sound better but use more bandwidth.
Mods
Modlist File The filename of a modlist exported from the DayZ Launcher. Upload the HTML file to your server’s root directory and the server will parse it to install and load mods automatically. Leave blank if you’re not using a modlist file.
Additional Mods: A semicolon-separated list of client mod folders to load, useful for mods you’ve uploaded manually rather than through a modlist file. Folder names can’t contain capital letters, spaces, or start with a number.
Server-Side Only Mods: A semicolon-separated list of mods that run only on the server and aren’t required by connecting clients when Verify Signatures is on.
Make Mod Files Lowercase When on, converts all loaded mod folder and file names to lowercase. Turn this on for one restart after copying mods over from a Windows machine, since Windows file names aren’t case-sensitive and DayZ’s Linux server is.
Advanced
Automatic Updates: When on, the server checks for game and mod updates on every startup and installs them before launching.
Validate Server Files: When on, the server verifies all installed files during an automatic update. This significantly increases startup time, so it’s best left off unless you suspect file corruption.
Extra Startup Parameters: Additional command-line launch flags passed to the server binary. See the Bohemia Interactive wiki for a full list of valid flags.
Server Binary: The name of the server executable. This is view-only and shouldn’t need to change.
DayZ Dedicated Server App ID: The SteamCMD app ID used to install the server. 223350 installs the Stable branch and 1042420 installs the Experimental branch. This is view-only, since switching branches requires deleting and reinstalling all server files.
