Protect your Enshrouded server data with automated backups, manual snapshots, and world file management through the WinterNode control panel.

Automatic backups

WinterNode automatically backs up your Enshrouded server twice daily (2 AM and 2 PM CT) and retains backups for 45 days. These backups are stored separately from your server’s storage allocation. To restore from an automatic backup, open a Discord ticket and let us know which backup you’d like restored.

Manual backups

You can take a manual backup at any time through the GCP. See our Manual Backup guide for step-by-step instructions.

World file location

Enshrouded stores world saves in the savegame directory at the root of your server. Inside this folder, each world is saved as a series of numbered files with a hex name (e.g., 3ad85aea). The numbered copies are rolling backups that the game creates automatically - a new copy is made roughly every 10 minutes and when the server shuts down.

Restoring from backup

To restore your world from a WinterNode automatic backup:

Stop your server
Open a Discord ticket with the date you’d like to restore from
We’ll restore the backup and confirm when it’s ready
Start your server

To restore from your own manual backup, use the File Manager to replace the contents of the savegame directory with your backed-up files.
