Get your SCP: Secret Laboratory server listed on the public server list. Verification can be done automatically through a console command, or manually by emailing Northwood’s Safety and Compliance Team.
Before You Start
Make sure your server meets these requirements before requesting verification:
- Server is online and accessible. Players must be able to connect via Direct Connect
- Uptime commitment. Verified servers are expected to maintain near-100% uptime. Servers offline for 14 or more consecutive days lose verification
- CSG compliance. Read the Community Server Guidelines before applying
- Max 60 player slots. Verified servers exceeding 60 slots may be de-listed
Configure Required Fields
Open config_gameplay.txt in the /.config/SCP Secret Laboratory/<port>/config folder using the File Manager. Set the following fields.
contact_email
This field must be added manually if it doesn’t already exist. Add it on its own line:
contact_email: [email protected]Use the same email address you will use to contact Northwood. This must match exactly.
serverinfo_pastebin_id
The default value (7wV681fT) is a placeholder. Create your own paste at pastebin.com containing at least a contact method for players (email or Discord invite). You can also include your server rules and community information.
Copy the paste ID from the URL (the characters after pastebin.com/) and update the field:
serverinfo_pastebin_id: your-paste-idserver_name
Set a display name for your server. This is what appears on the public server list.
server_name: Your Server NameAfter updating all fields, restart your server from the Game Panel.
Verify Your Server
There are two verification methods: automatic (instant) or email (3-7 business days).
Option 1: Auto-Verify (Recommended)
- Open your server’s Console in the Game Panel
- Run the command
!verify static
If the command succeeds, skip to Accept the CSG Agreement. If it fails, check your network settings (see Troubleshooting below), then try again. If auto-verification continues to fail, use the email method.
Option 2: Email Verification
Send an email to [email protected] from the same address you set as contact_email. Include the following:
- Your server’s public IPv4 address
- Whether the IP is static or dynamic (WinterNode servers are static)
- Your server’s port number
Write in clear English with an appropriate subject line. Do not include attachments.
Keep your server online while you wait. Email verification typically takes 3-7 business days.
Accept the CSG Agreement
After your server is approved (either automatically or by email), a link appears in your server console. Open this link to formally agree to the Community Server Guidelines. Your server then appears on the public server list.
If the link doesn’t appear:
- Restart your server from the Game Panel
- Check the Console for the agreement link
- If it still doesn’t appear, open a Tech Support ticket on the official SCP: Secret Laboratory Discord server
Troubleshooting Verification
The most common reason for verification failure is that Northwood’s system could not connect to your server.
Confirm Your Server Is Running
Your server console should display Waiting for players when the server is online and ready. If you don’t see this message, your server isn’t running properly and verification will fail.
Check IP and Port Accuracy
Verify that the IP address and port you provided to Northwood match your actual server. You can find your server’s IP and port in the Game Panel dashboard. Typos are a common cause of verification failure.
Check Network Settings
Open config_gameplay.txt in the /.config/SCP Secret Laboratory/<port>/config folder and verify these fields:
server_ip: Set toautoor your server’s public IPv4 addressipv4_bind_ip: Must be0.0.0.0ipv6_bind_ip: Must be::(the syntax isipv6_bind_ip: ::)forward_ports: Must befalseon WinterNode servers
Restart your server after making any changes.
Disable Plugins
Plugins like EXILED can interfere with the verification process.
- In the Game Panel, open the File Manager
- Disable EXILED via its loader configuration or remove plugin files from the plugins folder
- Restart your server
- Re-attempt verification
You can re-enable your plugins after verification succeeds.
Verification Denied
If your request was denied, review the requirements in Before You Start and the Community Server Guidelines. Common reasons include CSG non-compliance, insufficient server performance, or connectivity issues.
Still Not Working?
If verification continues to fail after checking all of the above, open a Tech Support ticket on the official SCP: Secret Laboratory Discord server. Include your server’s IP address, port, and a list of what you’ve already tried.
