Import a RuneScape: Dragonwilds world by uploading its .sav file from your PC to the RSDragonwilds/Saved/SaveGames folder on your server. This also works for setting up a Custom or Creative world on your RuneScape: Dragonwilds server.

Find Your World on Your PC

  1. Close RuneScape: Dragonwilds completely
  2. Press Win+R to open the Run box
  3. Type %LOCALAPPDATA%\RSDragonwilds\Saved\SaveGames and press Enter
  4. Find the .sav file named after your world, for example MyWorld.sav

The full path is C:\Users\<your-username>\AppData\Local\RSDragonwilds\Saved\SaveGames. The AppData folder is hidden by default, so the Run box is the fastest way in.

You may also see a .sav.backup file next to each world. That’s the game’s own backup copy. You only need the .sav file.

Prepare the Server Save Folder

If your server has never been started, start it once so it creates its save folder. Then:

  1. Log in to the Game Control Panel and select your server
  2. Click the red Stop button and wait for the status to show Offline
  3. In the sidebar, click File Manager
  4. Open RSDragonwilds/Saved/SaveGames
  5. Download every file in this folder to keep as a backup
  6. Delete every file in the folder. Keep the folder itself

The server loads the most recent .sav file in this folder. Emptying it makes sure your world is the one it picks.

Upload Your World

  1. In the File Manager, open RSDragonwilds/Saved/SaveGames
  2. Click Upload and select your world’s .sav file
  3. Wait for the upload to finish and confirm the file name matches the one on your PC

The File Manager has a 100MB upload limit. If your .sav is larger, upload it with SFTP instead.

Start and Verify

  1. In the Game Control Panel, click the green Start button
  2. Connect to your server in RuneScape: Dragonwilds
  3. Check that your buildings and explored areas are there

Your characters aren’t stored in the world file. Each player keeps theirs on their own PC and brings it with them when they join.

The World Password in Server Options replaces any password your world had before. Leave it empty if you want the world open to anyone with the IP.

Still Not Working?

If the server starts a fresh world instead of yours, check that the .sav is the only file in the save folder and that it isn’t inside an extra subfolder.

If it still doesn’t load, contact our support team with:

  • Your Server UUID
  • The name of the .sav file you uploaded
  • Any errors from the server Console after starting

Frequently Asked Questions

Press Win+R and enter %LOCALAPPDATA%\RSDragonwilds\Saved\SaveGames. The full path is C:\Users\<your-username>\AppData\Local\RSDragonwilds\Saved\SaveGames. Each world is one .sav file named after the world.

No. Jagex warns that renaming the file can cause progress to be lost. Upload it with the exact name it has on your PC.

Characters are not stored in the world file. Each player's characters stay on their own PC in the SaveCharacters folder and come with them when they join the server.

The server loads the most recent .sav file in its save folder. That's why you empty the folder before uploading, so your world is the only one there.

Not directly. The Xbox app and PC Game Pass versions don't store worlds as .sav files, and console saves can't be copied off the console. Only worlds from the Steam version can be uploaded.

Yes. Create the world in the game on your PC with the settings you want, enter it once, exit, then import it using this guide.
